Maximising the investment in our city region is even more important in these difficult economic times. Our investment strand is about raising awareness of the city region’s strengths and achievements and building the ‘Bristol’ brand to encourage the best talent and funding for our local businesses and universities.

The key projects in this strand include:

Marketing toolkit

March saw the launch of a multi-layered ‘marketing toolkit’ that provides an accurate picture of our science, technology and engineering strengths across the West of England area.

The aim was to create a definitive pool of material that can be used by any organisation or individual in producing marketing material or presentations about the strength and breadth of our scientific activities.

The toolkit content was distributed throughout the region during months of April and May 2009. Key audiences are the local public (to raise awareness of current activities and their impact) and local business/ inward investment agencies who can use the material as is or in their own material for marketing purposes.

The toolkit comprises:

- A short film entitled “a day in the life of a city”, showcasing cutting edge Science and Technology taking place in the region.
- a printed booklet of ‘killer facts’ for distribution at events and specific venues

More content will be added over time, possible additions will include:

- downloadable PowerPoint slides of the ‘killer facts’,
- downloadable version of the booklet
- images and case studies of local science

Site branding programme

In May 2009, more than 60 venues across Bristol and Bath were sent the ‘Science City Bristol – We’re part of the equation!’ signs. Keep your eyes open for the organisations that proudly display these signs.

Venues include the universities, public venues (such as the Zoo and At-Bristol), businesses and research centres, as well as, eventually SPark. To have your site included in the branding project, then please contact us.

SPark

SPark, the new £300m Bristol and Bath Science Park will be one of the physical manifestations of Science City Bristol. It will increasingly become the physical focus for the local science and technology community and its activities, as well as individual organisations.

It will utilise the Science City Bristol branding strongly in its marketing activities for tenants, once the site is developed.
