A BioBlitz is an opportunity to bring scientists, naturalists, environment and wildlife agencies, nature enthusiasts, students, school groups and the general public together to discover and experience what nature has to offer. It has the dual aims of establishing the degree of biodiversity in the estate and popularising science and nature and wildlife recording.
The first Bristol BioBlitz took place on June 26th and 27th, 2009 as parof the Festival of Nature’s activities. The event was a great success and our team of scientists, naturalists, volunteers, schools and public found 637 unique species in the Ashton Court Estate. A huge thank you to all those who gave their time and assistance to make the BioBlitz happen.

A key aspect of the programme was our media team, made up of professional media representatives from a range of Bristol organisations. We gathered over 2000 hits over the 30 hours from across the world.
